Everyday Confidence

For Teachers/Students

The Benefits

Infection prevention knowledge is a vital part of every student’s training to protect their health and keep everyone safe during any treatment or service demonstration. Good practices that are taught and ingrained early will ensure cleaning and disinfecting becomes a routine to stop the spread of germs that can lead to an infection or illness. You should also become familiar with choosing the right disinfectant by identifying contact times, any negative side-effects, special handling requirements and the impact using those chemicals might have on the environment.

1st in Class

Prevention™ is the ideal disinfectant for your massage, hair, or cosmetology school because it’s fast-acting, non-irritating to eyes and skin, does not require the use of PPE, has no harsh chemical smell, and has minimal impact on the environment as the active ingredient breaks down into oxygen and water.

Accelerated Hydrogen Peroxide®, also known as AHP, is a patented technology that powers Prevention Disinfectants. AHP was designed to overcome the challenges posed by older disinfectants used in hospitals and other healthcare facilities, which were slow-acting and were associated with significant health hazards. After becoming the leading technology in critical healthcare facilities due to its unique balance between safety and effectiveness, AHP is now trusted in a wide range of industries where infection prevention and safety are paramount, including spas and salons.

The only active ingredient in AHP is low levels of hydrogen peroxide, which are combined with other commonly-used safe ingredients to boost its efficacy and speed. This results in a solution that is powerful enough to kill tough pathogens, without compromising on safety for you, your clients or the planet. Prevention is powered by the latest development in AHP technology, designed to meet the needs of fast-paced salon and spa settings.

Yes, significant research and testing have been conducted to prove the safety of Prevention™.

Prevention Disinfectants contain low levels of hydrogen peroxide and commonly used, safe ingredients such as surfactants, stabilizing agents, and wetting agents. Prevention has been proven to be non-toxic (acute oral, dermal and respiratory), non-irritating to eyes, non-corrosive to skin and non-skin sensitizing.

In accordance with the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) Prevention Disinfectants do not carry any hazard statements or hazard pictograms, and do not require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling the product. We do still recommend the use of gloves as a general practice when disinfecting, to help minimize the risk of disease transmission.

Further, in support of the extensive toxicity testing that has been conducted on the Prevention formulations, there are no known toxicological effects with regard to chronic toxicity, carcinogenic or mutagenic effects, or reproductive toxicity.

Contact Time is the amount of time required for a surface to remain wet for your disinfectant to be fully effective. If a product dries too quickly on the surface, it might not be keeping the surface wet long enough to reach the requisite contact time. You are therefore not achieving proper disinfection unless you re-apply. While many commonly-used disinfectants require unrealistically long contact times, our Prevention™ products deliver hospital-grade disinfection in just one minute, which is up to 10x faster than the competition. Compare Prevention’s contact times with other disinfecting brands.

Prevention is compatible with a wide range of commonly-used materials, including stainless steel, laminate, porcelain, ceramics, high & low density plastics, resins and silicon rubber, among others. Prevention is ideal for use on a variety of hard, non-porous surfaces, including:

  • Chairs/stools
  • Countertops
  • Drying stations
  • Facial equipment
  • Hot towel cabinets
  • Magnifying lamps and table lamps
  • Massage cups and stones
  • Non-circulating footbaths
  • Oil/lotion pumps
  • Reception areas
  • Sink areas
  • Spa/massage tables & face cradles

Many commonly-used disinfectant wipes in salons and spas are slow-acting, ineffective in real world conditions, and have harsh safety profiles, causing irritation and other health effects. Prevention Wipes kills tough pathogens in just 1 minute, while remaining non-corrosive and non-irritating to eyes and skin.

With Prevention Wipes, you can quickly and easily disinfect between clients, without compromising on safety – to yourself, your clients, or the surfaces and equipment you need to do your job.
