Prevention Ready-to-Use (RTU) may be used to disinfect pre-cleaned makeup brushes, provided material compatibility is considered.
Makeup brushes vary widely in bristle composition and in the adhesives used to secure the bristles to the handle. Some materials may be sensitive to repeated exposure to disinfectants.
If Prevention Spray is used on makeup brushes, the best practice is to:
- Thoroughly pre-clean the brush to remove visible makeup and debris
- Apply Prevention by spraying until the bristles are wet
- Allow the brush to remain wet for the full 1-minute contact time, in accordance with the Prevention RTU label
- Rinse the brush with clean water after disinfection and allow it to air dry
Because brush materials and adhesives differ by manufacturer, we strongly recommend testing this process on a single brush first to confirm there is no change to bristle texture or adhesive integrity before adopting this practice more broadly.
